If You Don't Plan

If you become incompetent or die
without planning,
the results to your family
could be devastating.

If you become incompetent --- mentally or physically --- and did no planning, your loved ones must go to court and have someone named as your guardian or conservator or both. That person will then make all your medical and legal decisions.

If you die without planning, not only do you make life more difficult for your loved ones after your death, but your assets may go to people to whom you do not intend. In planning, you should assume that nothing happens automatically. You should affirmatively plan to insure what you want to happen will, indeed, happen.
